Belated Hot Take: That March Madness Goaltending Call was So Fucked Up!

Sooooooo I’ve been doing a lot of thinking over spring break and I just can’t help but think about how that goaltending call in Northwestern-Gonzaga game in the NCAA tournament was kind of… fucked up, in my opinion.  

       Gonzaga player Zach Collins put his hand through the rim to block Derek Pardon, better known as Daddy Wildcat, from shooting. The Gonzaga Bulldogs then scored 10 points and the ‘Cats did not have a chance to tie the game, thus ending their first jaunt into the NCAA tournament. The NCAA later issued a statement admitting that this was a clear goaltending violation.

        This whole thing is so fucked up because it took us out of the NCAA tournament that we totally would have won had it not been for this call. We all could use a win after a long winter quarter, and this just feels like a slap in the face. After they knocked down Hinman and fucked up Frans, how many Ls can one campus handle?

This whole scandal really got the team down. I mean, they couldn’t even pull themselves together enough to play even just once at Welsh-Ryan Arena this year.

        So, referees? If you could not do that again, that’d be great. Who can say what will happen this year, but I’m sure Northwestern will make it to the top 4 without snakes in the grass like Gonzaga holding them back!
