Inspiring: This Fraternity Only had One Racist Incident in all of 2015

It seems like everyday you hear another report of a fraternity doing something “offensive” or “degrading.” But rarely do you hear about all the good work fraternities do day in and day out to make their campus a better place. Take for example the Zeta Alpha Beta fraternity chapter at Baylor University. A report released yesterday revealed that the fraternity made it through the whole year with only one racist incident on their record! Great work, guys!

Though the press might make it seem like fraternities and sororities are breeding grounds for privilege and bigotry, heartwarming stories like this one often fall through the cracks. The fact that ZAB managed to have only one event where brothers continually shouted racial slurs at partygoers is certainly noteworthy, but chances are you won’t hear anything about it on the evening news!

University officials, so used to having to keep multiple scandals per year under wraps, were understandably delighted by the good news.

“We’ve lately been seeing fraternities and sororities in the news for all the wrong reasons,” said Jerry Simon, the director of Greek Life at Baylor. “So when this report came in that ZAB was able to keep their racism to a reasonable level, it made all of us here at the office smile.”

Rampant racism may be a problem at a lot of fraternities. But for these boys? Once was enough.
