Northwestern Dining Brings Mystical World of “Italy” Into Foster-Walker Dining Halls

Northwestern Dining plans to transform Foster-Walker Complex dining halls into the bizarre and thrilling world known as “Italy” this Thursday.

The March 8th event – which NU Dining calls “Italian Night” – will take over the entire Foster-Walker dining facility. Students can enjoy a wide variety of foods that take inspiration from the fictional country such as “spaghetti” – a dish consisting of long, round noodles over a red sauce, with optional meatballs on the side.

Students may also may notice some decorative flair in the form of small flags with green, red, and white stripes, an homage to the fictional “flag of Italy”, as seen in various films such as “Call Me by Your Name” and “The Tourist”, both of which are set in the beautiful fantasy world of Italy.

In the event that the night is a success, NU Dining hopes to make this event a regular one. Future dishes might include the delicious “lasagna”, a layered casserole containing flat noodles, meat, and cheese, or even the exotic “pizza”, which consists of a flatbread “crust”, similar to that of a pie, topped with tomato sauce, cheese, and occasionally such toppings as mushrooms or “Italian sausage.”
