Self-Centered Student Just Realizing NUDM Money Going to Charity

EVANSTON, IL--As Dance Marathon Eve draws near, many students lose sight of the philanthropy that NUDM’S all about. With all the hustle and bustle, students can get lost in the glitz, facebook posts, neon and sweat of their thirty hour struggle for air. But one student, Liam Guo, is making sure that he stays true to the philanthropic roots of Northwestern Dance Marathon.

“Oh...I thought DM was all about me dancing” said a still confused Liam. “I mean...I didn’t know--I mean yeah that’s great! I just...I just thought it was a fun thing that the university did.”

The second-year student had spent five months asking his wealthy relatives for money without knowing that the proceeds were going to GiGi’s Playhouse, a nationwide network of down syndrome achievement centers. For the past five months, Liam Guo had unknowingly raised 800 dollars on behalf of the organization.

“I mean now that I think about it, four hundred dollars is a lot of money to spend for just dancing...yeah...okay...It’s all starting to make sense now...” mumbled an enlightened Guo as he entered the large white tent.
