Too Late for Local Senior to Watch Entourage Movie

EVANSTON, IL—Anita Schaeffer, RTVF Senior, is very concerned that she’ll never see the Entourage movie. Despite her feminist political and ideological standpoint, she has been an avid Entourage fan since she was 14-years-old.

“I can’t explain it,” she tells us, “Despite the objectification of women in the show, there’s nothing like glitz and glamor accompanied by very low stakes.”

On June 3, 2015, the Entourage film had its wide release, which to some was a big f***ing deal, Schaeffer included. However during the film’s summer release, Anita was unable to find friends to see it with her. Many weren’t fans, and those who were had already seen it.

“Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months. And now, I just don’t know what to do. I can hardly justify watching it anymore, especially alone.”

Schaeffer claims that there was one instant where she came very close to watching the film, when she saw it was an in-flight entertainment menu item. However, she couldn’t “bring herself to it” because of the crowded nature of the plane.

“Not only is Entourage rather sexually graphic, it’s also just so douchey. I couldn’t subject other people to it.”

As a film major, Schaeffer says it’s hard to convince herself to watch the film by herself in an un-ironic way, no matter how strongly she feels for the franchise.

“If I’m sitting down to watch a movie, there are just so many important films I know I should watch first….But god dammit do I love the episode where E has a threesome with Sloan and Malin Ackerman.”

Anita hopes one day she finds the courage to comfortably watch the film alone because she says she’ll “love Vinny, E, Turtle and Drama til the day [she] dies.”
