EVANSTON, IL – Sources Tuesday reported that Northwestern University student organization Mayfest has cancelled all parties during Wildcat Welcome 2015. The decision, effective immediately, came in response to Mayfest’s concerns that the Northwestern undergraduate student body would actually be able to socially assemble in an organized, enjoyable fashion during the calendar year of 2015. The official Mayfest twitter released the following statement:

Unverified sources have claimed that the Mayfest exec board has arranged to hold a small “pop-up” party in downtown Chicago. However, the impromptu Welcome Week party is reportedly being held exclusively for Mayfest committee members and select invitees, as there will be alcohol present at the event; it is illegal in the state of Illinois to consume alcohol under the age of 21. Due to these unfortunate circumstances, informing the larger Northwestern populus would be “a logistical headache.” These reports remain unconfirmed, however, as Mayfest declined to comment.
