PASADENA, CA – Following a Monday court decision by the National Labor Relations Board that dismissed a petition for the right to unionize by members of the Northwestern football team, sports video game giant 180 Sports announced the start of development for a new “Courtroom Mode” in its popular College FB series of football games.  Among a number of revolutionary developments that come with this new gameplay is rumored to be a full roster of unofficial likenesses for Northwestern players who participated in the petition.

Executives with 180 Sports have denied the parallels between the players available in the new game mode and Northwestern athletes involved with the ruling.  However, several of the game’s beta-testers have reported uncanny resemblances between not only the appearance, but the articulateness, cross-examination, and closing argument stats of NU players and their in-game “counterparts.”

College FB 2015’s “Courtroom Mode” promises many cutting-edge features, including customizable opening statements; a campaign mode for a longer, more drawn-out appeals processes; and a significantly improved truck stick.  Additionally, game developers have hinted at the possibility of an online mode that will automatically sync real-world judge appointments and juror disqualifications with the game to maintain the highest level of realism.

Though not likely to be present in this incarnation of the game, there has been much excited speculation about a future addition in which players may attempt manipulate media headlines in their favor for certain courtroom rulings.
