Tragic Notre Dame Fire Actually Perfect Opportunity to Share Abroad Pics

Yesterday’s horrific fire that blazed in Paris’s 850-year-old Notre Dame cathedral destroyed the famous spiral and, most importantly, provided a fantastic opportunity to share cute throwback vacation pics.

Countless privileged Northwestern students, along with their correspondingly braggy and oversharing parents, took to social media on April 15 to share their mediocre iPhone photos of the historic cathedral. While a quick Google search could show millions of identical subpar tourist pictures, every single NU student who has ever studied abroad felt compelled to share their “incomparable” Notre Dame viewing experience.

“TBT to my Paris weekend trip when I was studying abroad in Cope #takemeback,” one student wrote on Facebook. “I looked at this old-ass church and honestly felt kind of spiritual + holy...So glad I got to see it IRL before it burned down. :( Je t'aime, Paris.

While some crucial elements of the cathedral will be salvageable, the blaze notably destroyed the wooden frame dating back to 1220. Our semester abroad memories, however, will last forever.
